OSSM creates fast, forceful reciprocating motion. Read this page before first use and whenever the machine, mount, attachment, controller, or firmware changes.
Unexpected motion can cause serious injury
Hazard: the moving rail, carriage, belt, and attachment can create pinch, crush, impact, or entanglement points. Consequence: contact can cause serious injury. Avoidance: keep people, hair, cables, clothing, and loose objects clear; stabilise the machine; begin at zero speed and depth; keep a tested Stop control within reach.
Mandatory pre-use checklist
- Inspect the frame, belt, rail, fasteners, cables, power supply, and attachment. Do not use damaged, loose, unusually noisy, or contaminated parts.
- Place the machine on a stable surface and weight the base with a filled sandbag or an equally secure restraint.
- Keep the full travel path and all pinch points clear.
- Attach only a secure, material-compatible accessory and check it cannot detach through the planned range.
- Set speed and depth to zero before connecting power or a controller.
- Power on without a person in the motion path and allow homing to finish.
- Test at the lowest practical speed and depth while unloaded.
- Trigger the controller's Stop action and confirm the carriage stops before positioning a person.

Pause is not a substitute for removing power before cleaning, maintenance, attachment changes, or fault investigation.
During use
- Increase only one motion setting at a time from zero.
- Keep the Stop control reachable by the person at risk or a trusted attendant.
- Never reach into the travel path while powered, even when paused.
- Stop for unexpected movement, slipping, looseness, heat, burning smell, damaged insulation, unusual noise, loss of controller connection, pain, numbness, or distress.
If something goes wrong
- Use the tested Stop control.
- Move the person clear only if doing so does not introduce more risk.
- Disconnect power when it is safe.
- Do not resume until the cause is understood and the unloaded pre-use test passes.
