Diagnose OSSM power, homing, controller, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and unexpected-motion problems safely.
Stop and disconnect power before inspecting hardware. Never reach into the travel path while OSSM is powered.
| Symptom | First safe action | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| No power or status light | Disconnect power | Reseat the supplied supply and inspect the cable and connector for damage |
| Homing does not finish | Disconnect power | Clear obstructions and inspect belt, rail, frame stability, and cables |
| Controller cannot find OSSM | Keep motion values at zero | Restart only the controller, move closer, and confirm another controller is not connected |
| Controller disconnects during motion | Use Stop; disconnect power if Stop does not respond | Do not resume until an unloaded Stop test passes |
| Wi-Fi will not connect | Local control may remain available | Confirm a 2.4 GHz network, password, range, and internet service |
| Wi-Fi indicator is yellow | Do not repeat setup immediately | Wait 60 seconds; the router is connected but the online service is unavailable |
| Unexpected, rough, or noisy motion | Stop and disconnect power | Inspect for looseness, contamination, obstruction, or damage |
Recovery sequence
- Record what was on screen and which controller was connected.
- Stop and disconnect power.
- Correct only an obvious, non-damaging issue such as a loose external plug or obstruction.
- Power on with the motion path empty.
- Confirm homing, minimum unloaded motion, and Stop.
Do not continue after electrical smell, heat, damaged insulation, repeated homing failure, unreliable Stop, belt or rail damage, or unexplained motion. Email support@researchanddesire.com with the device version, controller type, status indicators, and the steps already tried.
