Use the Lockbox's destructive back-housing fallback when software Emergency Unlock is unavailable.
This is the last-resort access path when the Lockbox cannot be opened through the Keyholder or software Emergency Unlock.
This procedure damages the backplate/back housing
The hardware fallback opens the sacrificial access cutout so you can retrieve the key. Stop if you cannot perform the steps without risking injury. Contact local emergency services when access is urgent and you cannot complete the procedure safely.
Before you begin
- Use a small flat-head screwdriver in good condition.
- Place the Lockbox on a stable surface with the access cutout facing away from you.
- Keep fingers clear of the locking paddle and the opening seam.
- Do not use powered cutting tools near the battery or electronics.

Open the emergency access cutout
- Locate the access cutout on the back housing.
- Position the Lockbox so the cutout faces away from your body.
- Place the tip of the small flat-head screwdriver in the cutout. Angle it slightly down and away from you, then push to open the cutout.
- Place the screwdriver tip between the back-housing wall and the locking paddle. Keep the tool in the documented access channel rather than pushing it deeper into the enclosure.
- Use controlled pressure to slide the locking paddle upward.
- Open the Lockbox, remove the key, and attend to the immediate safety need.
After access
Do not start another lock after using the destructive cutout. Photograph the damage and contact support for replacement and inspection guidance. Include any error code or unexpected mechanism behavior that led to emergency access.
