Choose a normal Lockbox restart or an unresponsive-device reboot and verify the preserved lock state.
Before you restart
Do not restart your device during firmware updates unless support instructs you to. Interrupting an update can require manual recovery.
Restarting does not cancel active timers or clear your session settings. Your device preserves its locked/unlocked state across restarts. If you need extended battery savings instead, see Sleep Mode.
How to restart
| Situation | Use |
|---|---|
| Device responds normally | Settings → Restart Device |
| Screen and controls are unresponsive | Hold Enter/Lock for 10 seconds |
| Urgent key access is required | Use Emergency Access, not repeated restarts |
| Firmware update is in progress | Wait or follow support instructions |
Step 1: Use the menu (recommended)
On the device, navigate to Settings → Restart Device, then confirm when prompted. The device will restart automatically.
You should see the device power cycle and return to the appropriate screen (lock attempt or main menu) based on its prior state.
Step 2: Use the hard reset (for unresponsive devices)
If your device is unresponsive, press and hold the Enter/Lock button for 10 seconds. The screen will go blank and the device will reboot automatically.
After the reboot, confirm one of the following:
- If previously locked, the device attempts to re‑engage the lock
- If previously unlocked, the main menu appears
Use the hard reset only when the device is unresponsive. For normal restarts, use the menu option.
What to expect after a restart
| Before the restart | After the restart |
|---|---|
| Physical lock state | Preserved; a previously locked device attempts to re-engage the lock |
| Active timer | Continues without resetting |
| Session settings | Preserved |
| Previously unlocked device | Returns to the main menu |
| Wi-Fi connection | Reconnects when the saved network is available; confirm the status indicator before relying on remote controls |
Troubleshooting
