E-Lock 2: Could Not Unlock

Get emergency key access first, then diagnose a Lockbox that cannot confirm it unlocked.

E-Lock 2 means the Lockbox attempted to unlock but could not confirm that the locking paddle reached the unlocked position.

Access first

If the key is needed urgently, do not work through routine retries. Use Software Emergency Unlock if available, then Hardware Backplate Emergency Access. Contact local emergency services if access is still not possible.

If access is not urgent

Lockbox paddle and backplate orientation

  1. Keep the Lockbox on stable power.
  2. Remove external pressure from the lid/backplate and make sure nothing is loading the mechanism.
  3. Attempt one normal unlock.
  4. If the device is responsive but still reports E-Lock 2, try one documented restart.
  5. Do not repeatedly cycle or force the paddle.

Stop and escalate

Use hardware emergency access and contact support if the mechanism binds, the device repeats E-Lock 2, the motor sounds abnormal, or the lid/backplate is damaged. Send support@researchanddesire.com the code, current lock state, a photo, and the actions already attempted.
